5 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A DOG DAYCARE

  1. Ask to Speak to the Owner: The owner of a dog daycare sets the tone for the establishment, and should always have the animals’ best interest at heart. Our owners here at Paws consider the happiness and well-being of your dog their highest priority and work hard to ensure that the rest of their staff do too.  We understand that your dog is an important member of your family, and we consider them a special member of our Paws family as well; we will always treat them with the utmost loving care as though they were our own.
  2. The Sniff Test: When you walk into the daycare, how does it smell?  A strong smell of urine or other unpleasant odors suggest poor cleaning habits.  Poor cleaning habits lead to unsanitary conditions and ultimately a sick dog.  At Paws we are regularly mopping and cleaning, because everyone, whether human or dog, deserves a clean and fresh-smelling environment!
  3. Take a Tour of the Whole Facility: Daycare’s that limit you access to the back end of the facility may be hiding poor daycare conditions such as overcrowding.  There should be ample room for the dogs to play, spaces to rest as needed, and adequate supervision, meaning no more than 15-20 dogs per person.
  4. Ask How Many Hours during the Day Your Dog will be Kenneled or Caged: Some local daycare’s will kennel your dog for as many as 7 hours during the day.  At Paws our packs run free throughout the entire day and get to be outside as much as they want to, rain or shine. Dogs will never be kenneled unless by request of the owner- for separated naps or rest time, for instance.
  5. Ask About Safety Precautions: At Paws we have double barriers separating each of our different areas to ensure your dog is safe and sound.  Our practice is that a door or gate must be closed before the next door or gate is opened, and our barriers and fencing are regularly inspected to make sure that everything is in proper working condition.

Bottom Line:  We ask that you please compare us to the competition.  There is simply not another doggy daycare nearby like Paws.
